Silk is a luxury that we all love and know. It's an excellent fabric for keeping your hair and skin smooth and it has a beautiful shine, but not all silk is created equal. If you're curious about how to select the best quality silk, this article is for you!
What is Momme?
Momme or "mm", is a Japanese word that's traditionally used as a unit or weight to measure the quality of pure silk. Much like thread count, the higher the momme weight, the higher the amount of silk used, and the more expensive, durable and greater quality the silk is.
The average momme weight for silk ranges from 12 momme - 22 momme. Typically, a momme range of 14-16 or higher is considered high quality.
What Makes Mulberry Silk so Special?
The momme for silk is one way to measure its quality, but the type of silk is just as important, which brings us to Mulberry silk—the highest quality silk available for purchase.
Mulberry silk is historically grown in China, where local farmers grow Mulberry trees and harvest the leaves for silkworms to feed on. The resulting cocoons are spun into raw silk fibers. Because the silkworms are fed only Mulberry leaves, the resulting silk is some of the finest available in the world.

She desired to combine modern design with traditional motifs, using hand-painted flowers and trees alongside geometric prints to give a modern edge. The result is a loungewear collection that breathes fresh air into a sleepy and stalled category. Their 19 momme sumptuous silk that is entirely hand-stitched make the pieces delightful even in your dreams.
